Virtual Tour Testimonials
Each time, we've been absolutely blown away with our entire experience. Andy and Di’s presentation style is a wholly immersive journey where the passion and emotion in their narrative shines through. It feels like you are side-by-side with them on a private tour as you see stunningly artistic photography and videography whilst traversing the Scottish countryside. You get to see iconic as well as little-known nooks and crannies of the country blended in with lots of historical facts and some entertaining fiction too. The experience isn’t complete until the post-tour group video chat/Q&A which is always a diverse global audience that feels like an family reunion. These virtual tours are the most exciting and anticipated part of our weekends. We keep coming back for more and learn something new every time.
I have taken a number of virtual tours with Andy and Di and I come back because of their passion for all things Scotland. Their virtual tours are both engaging and informative. They are a combination of live interaction over zoom, photos, videos and a live question and answer session at the end. They both do a great job of blending these different mediums into a single presentation. For example, I felt like I was transported and was really walking through Culloden battlefield. They also give recommendations for texts to read if you are interested in further research of a particular subject.
Some of their virtual tours that I have done are the 18th century and 1740’s Scotland tours. These have a focus on historic sites and also highlight filming locations for the Outlander series. The Culloden Experience is a deep dive into the Jacobite uprising and Battle of Culloden and its impact on the Highland culture.
Meet the Jacobite is an in depth look into who the Jacobites were - their everyday life and what a typical day was like for the average person. For example, what types of jobs did they have, what they ate and what their homes were like. Andy gives this tour wearing full Jacobite attire and even shows how to properly pleat a kilt! He also gives a weapon demonstration of the common weaponry used by the Jacobites.
When I did my first virtual tour I really didn’t know much about Scotland, but now I have learned so much about the history and culture of the Scottish people that it is at the top of my list for places where I want to travel.
If you’re interested in learning more about Scottish history and culture, I would highly recommend Andy and Di. They have a fantastic series of virtual tours all about Scotland.
I've been on four virtual tours with Di and Andy, and am making my way through the Outlander Distilled Whisky series. I could not be more impressed!
The Whisky series is very interesting and a real learning experience. I've been taking notes on the process of how whisky is made, the differences in types of whisky from various regions, and can now correctly pronounce the distillery names when I peruse the whisky section of my local grocery! I will definitely rewatch portions of the series about tastings and food pairings.
Di and Andy are true historians and love to share all they know about Culloden, the Highlands, and Scotland on their virtual tours. As an Outlander and Men in Kilts fan, the tours really enhanced my knowledge of the history and places behind the books and tv series. I got myself a road map of Scotland so I could keep track of the places they bring us to. I highly recommend joining their Facebook page to get even more of the history and beauty of Scotland as they take us on walks and drives throughout the Highlands with Facebook Live videos. Oh, and did I mention what a spectacular photographer Andy is? His work is just gorgeous and stunning, from wildlife to scenery to historic sites and castles.
These two are so personable and outgoing, I count them as friends even though we have never met in person. Some day I hope to visit beautiful Scotland and perhaps meet Di and Andy too! In the meantime, I'll join them on their new live virtual tours when available.
Andy and Di's virtual tours are the next best thing to being there. Both Andy and Di are so very knowledgeable and passionate about bringing Scotland to our hearts and souls. Take the Virtual Tours and be transported to a magical place unlike any in the world.
Your hosts are graciously waiting to take you along! I can’t wait to take their tours in person. They feel like family.
My home office transformed and became Culloden, Outlander locations, castles, beautiful countryside, artefacts, maps, stories, and the rich history that is Scotland! I highly recommend these virtual tours that Andy and Di Have created!
Hello Diane and Andy,.
What a wonderful tour you had today. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have joined the Facebook group and checked out your blog as well. Fabulous!
Thank you so much for all your passion and inspiration. I hope to be on another tour very soon. Maybe even next week. Best regards, Janet
A long distance gift.
Opening your hearth and home long distance is a gift. I very much appreciate your humour and keen interest in history and particularly during this time, you’ve done more to lift my spirits than you would know.
Thank you again for all you do and your great generosity of spirit.
Long distance hugs!
So glad to discover Andy and Di from a Facebook ad, and I attended ‘The Culloden Experience Virtual Tour’ as my first tour. I had no idea what to expect and I was so impressed with these two lovely people and their vast knowledge and passion for their topics. I then attended the ‘Virtual Tour of 1740’s Scotland’, then ‘A Journey Through 18th Century Scotland’. Loved them all! Highly recommended!
Going on a virtual tour with Andy & Di engulfed me into their tour wholeheartedly. They are very passionate in what they do and their love of country. I cannot begin to explain how many places you'll visit while on these tours. They are perfectly done, they are so organized and make everything seem seamless and easy. After touring they do a Q&A which is never rushed, you can ask all the questions you want. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. I guarantee you will. Looking forward to continue virtually traveling with virtualtoursofscotland.com. HAPPY TRAVELS!

Outlander Distilled (whisky virtual tour and edutainment webinar) Testimonials
Hi, this is Lynn and Ed. We have watched all the episodes of Outlander Distilled, and thought that the whole program was fantastic!!! We even saw the first one twice, and want to see more of them over again.
Each segment was packed full of information. Ed had more knowledge than I at first about how these wonderful products comes to be.
I was so overwhelmed with the story of how they are made.
One thing that was so pleasing was your personal touch. For instance, your favorite type of drinking glass, your own whisky collection, the next bottle you want to try, etc.
Knowing you from the Outlander tours, these glimpses brought a reality of what was being talked about.
Seeing some of Scotland’s countryside was a plus.
The whole section on the barrels was close to my heart, as my great grandfather was a Cooper in Ohio!
There are almost too many wonderful things to say about this series!!
We found each of us jotting down names of distilleries that we would like to try a product from!! The lists together, if bought, would keep us in daily wee drams for the next fifty years!
We thank you so very much for allowing us to purchase this magnificent Whisky Tour before it officially came out. There isn’t anything that we would change as we loved it ALL.
Perhaps some day, Ed and I will be able to travel to your extraordinary country to see everything…..from Outlander settings to the gorgeous land and, of course, some Whisky distilleries!!
Looking forward to more new programs from you….
Hello! I have finished the first five episodes of “Outlander Distilled”. Incredible! The information is well organized, detailed, and educational.
I love the historical references and learning about the origins of whisky, not just in Scotland, but internationally.
I can’t wait to search for some of the whiskies shown in our local shops. Slàinte mhath!
I plan to watch a few more this weekend. End of school year and travel got in the way of my viewing. And lack of whisky to go with it! Ha! 🤣
The first episode was amazing! Truly informative, educational, and fun. I am looking forward to the rest of the series. Slàinte mhath!
I am thoroughly enjoying the "Outlander Distilled" !!! I had no idea of the many variables that can effect the flavor of whiskey!! I am on episode #7 now.
I am fascinated with all the many flavors you talk about and the video shared with tasting of Timorous Beastie, Scallywag, Rock Island and Epicurean.
I have some Tomatin whisky where I tried a little taste testing myself....I do believe I need to join a group to work on this as it definitely is not a a straight forward task....but after watching your video I am very interested in trying to learn and experience the many aspects of flavors.
I myself enjoy it neat and with a more peaty taste.
While in Edinburgh my last visit in 2018 I was in Royal Mile Whiskies on High Street and picked out a Glenglassaugh - Torfa which I adored !! And Benromach 10 yr which i still have....just waiting for a special moment to open.
I am also amazed at the many different distilleries there are and the history behind it ll. Andy...you have done a wonderful job with this. I have shared info about this with several people I know who enjoy "The Water of Life".
and I look forward to the rest of the series.
I so look forward to once again visiting Scotland and being able to meet you both.
I would be honored that you would use my testimonial !!! I meant every word!! And it is ok to use my name.
Take care..are you hearing any good news about Scotland opening up soon? I know I'm probably not the only one disappointed that their tours have been postponed. Your virtual tours help but they are not the same as being there.
Wishing you both the very best.
Hi Andy-
I’m loving the whisky tour but have been so busy, I haven’t had a lot of time to continue watching.
I had hoped to have time to repeat a bit of it, I think part 3, with the fellow doing the tasting. But my goal is to get back to watching a bit each day until done.
Thanks for all you and Di do!
My first virtual tour was “Meet the Jacobite” and I was hooked! I attended all the other tours and fell more in love with Scotland’s history and beauty. Diane and Andy are so knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Scotland, especially Culloden. I have never been to Scotland and these tours made me feel as if I was right there experiencing everything with them. The historical maps, books, artifacts, and photos add so much detail and make the tour even more special. If you want to know more about the history and making of whisky, I highly recommend “Outlander Distilled”. It is incredible! Thank you to Diane and Andy for organizing these wonderful virtual tours! Slàinte mhath!
I just finished up Outlander Distilled and found the series extremely fascinating and informational. I had no idea of all the various pieces of the puzzle that goes into the making of some many types of whisky...and all the many distilleries ....so many I want to visit...so many I want to try!! You did a great job!! Highly recommend it to anyone interested in expanding their knowledge of Scottish whisky!!
Yay, I finished episode 10 of the whisky series just now!
I now have a list of whiskies I want to try, which includes Tomatin, Glenfiddich and Macallan 12 year olds. I purchased a Glenmorangie for cocktails and liked it, will try another of theirs too
I usually drink gin or rum. Hope I can locate some of the Arbikie pea Nadar gin. I cringe when I see all the goofy flavors of rum and vodka on the shelves. I guess I am a Mount Gay rum die hard.
But, Andy- if you haven't yet had it, I can recommend The Botanist! It is available at my grocery and is really smooooooth.
Thank you again for all that you do for us Outlander fans!
On reviewing a couple of episodes of Outlander Distilled, Wim said: Episode 2 struck me as a fine introduction to whisky to anyone interested though with not yet the knowledge that comes of a lengthy study, with useful hints and tips on tasting for 'more advanced' viewers as well however.
Episode 4 gave a very clear connection to the history depicted in 'Outlander', the actual facts and the inevitable liaison to whisky running through it and was therefore my personal favorite, learning about the rich past that finds well documented reflection in the popular Netflix series.
Allow me to thank you once again for the opportunity to discover your great initiative! Wishing you all success with these virtual tours and - when possible again of course - the physical ones.
Kindest regards,
Wim from Dram Gazette

The Culloden Experience - Virtual Tour Testimonials
Hello Di and Andy,
I have had the pleasure to visit Scotland in 2018, saw Culloden Battlefield and toured some of the film locations of Outlander. My heart has been lost to Scotland a long long time ago and I was so lucky to have been able to visit this most amazing country. There isn’t a day that goes by that I do not think of Scotland, or something reminds me of it.
Therefore, I would like to express my gratitude to you both, for putting together a most amazing virtual tour of Culloden Battlefield. I could feel your passion through the screen. Thank you for taking me back there.
You filmed the Battlefield at just the right moment, with the mist, you were able to feel how it would have been. It only took about one hour and so many brave men were killed. I can still remember standing there, at the Jacobite’s position, looking out on the field…. It is quite overwhelming when you stand there…
The details with which you presented this tour were stunning. I had never had the chance to visit Culloden House, so I really loved the way you walked through the rooms and compared them with pictures from an earlier time. Culloden House is still on my bucket list. Loved the walk through the woods and see the Prisoners Stone. Impressive. And the love story.
What an amazing story that you happened to find your home, right in the middle of that ring of trees. What are the odds?
So thank you again, for taking the time to share your beautiful country and its history with us. It is really much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Thank you for a wonderful tour today. I bought tickets for my Mum for her birthday. Neither of us were quite sure what to expect but we both really enjoyed it. Mum travelled to Culloden back in 2001 and she thoroughly enjoyed looking back at the history and some of the places she saw back then.
Thanks for making a virtual tour available during this difficult year. We look forward to seeing more in the future.
Kind regards,
Hello! I watched your virtual tour of Culloden the other day and it was INCREDIBLE!
My mum is a massive Outlander fan and has researched pieces of it in the past and she was amazed as well!
The amount of detail and care you have put into your tours is incredible.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.
Thank you so much for today’s tour. I had visited Culloden a few years ago and enjoyed revisiting with your excellent background to the history and information on the events. As a reader of the Outlander series as well, this tour truly enhanced what I read in the books.
Regards,
My husband and attended the Culloden virtual tour yesterday. It was wonderful. Thank you so much for all the work you have put into it. Regards,
Hi Diane and Andrew,
I have just finished watching "The Culloden Experience" and am feeling emotional about the history it tells. Have absolutely been enthralled and captivated with the video and wish to thank you both very much for this opportunity, you are doing amazing things. Best wishes from Wendy

Virtual Tour of 1740's Scotland - Testimonials
Hi Andy & Di. I loved the 1740’s tour. after I posted about it on an Outlander web site, several people asked for your website. Hope they found you.
Look forward to seeing you again
Hello, Andy and Di:
Just wanted to say thank you so much for your wonderful virtual tour!! I loved it, and now that my husband has heard all about it (he watched the Outlander series, too), your real-life tour is something he says we should plan to do. We've only been to Scotland once before, for 3 weeks in 2000, to see the places where his people came over from and to meet a few relatives that we discovered when researching that trip. So to go back, and include one of your tours, would definitely be very special, indeed! Of course, it won't likely be until 2022 at some point, given what's going on (we're in Canada). But it's another thing to dream about until then. 😊
Thanks again, and hope to meet you both someday.
Best regards
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed today's virtual tour. So informative and you made it easy to follow. Using that map was brilliant!
Your kindness and advice helping me was greatly appreciated. Your love for what you do is evident in the passion that is in your voices as you present the tours. Well done…
I enjoyed the virtual tour today. We have been to several of those places and it was nice to reminisce.
Thanks!!
Thank you all so very much for today’s tour.
I’ve not seen Outlander- but really enjoyed the stories and history of my “second home.”
I’ve been in the whisky business for over 20 years, and 2020 marks the first year I’ve not been across...
This was just what I needed!
Thanks again, for a wee taste of home today.
Cheers,
THANK YOU DI AND ANDY FOR A GREAT TOUR.
I have really enjoyed it and one day hope to see it in person.
Regards,

A Journey Through 18th Century Scotland - Testimonials
My husband and I really enjoyed watching ‘A Journey Through 18th Century Scotland’ virtual tour online last Saturday morning.
It was very efficient armchair travel through the important historical sites of 18th C Scotland, very clearly narrated by Diane Nicholson with accurate historical facts, and extensive photos and video footage. Andy Nicholson added in further information as we went along.
Reference was made to maps of the time and we were shown the locations of the sites we visited on that map, both then and present time.
There was no wasted time, it felt very comprehensive and let us realize a lot more information than we had
previously known, for an overall picture of what happened in those many locations that we visited.
We made notes for a future tour that we might make or take to Scotland, as we had done our own self driving
3 week tour before, but this was with no time wasted at all. In all I believe that we visited about 22 sites of interest in
the tour. Seemed very comprehensive to us both.
Well worth the price of the ticket for us, it was presented in a Zoom presentation, which proceeded flawlessly.
We were sent the link the day before, and then again the morning of the presentation. The Nicholsons even offered us a time zone converter so we would know exactly when to join them for the tour.
Thank you again Diane and Andrew for such a fantastic tour. I've been missing my friend living in the north of Scotland that I've known for years, yet have not been able to coordinate a time to visit given my career, until this past year, which of course had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. I have yet to visit Scotland, and today's tour enhanced my desire to get to Scotland as soon as possible. In the meantime, your virtual tours will be a huge morale booster for all, based on what I've seen and experienced today (my first tour!)
Sending best wishes from Ottawa!
Hi Di and Andrew,
Thanks so much for your tour today. All of your tours have been so informative and very moving. There is so much passion and interest shown in what you do. Thank you so much.
I enjoyed this very much! Hope to do a tour like this in Scotland some day!!
Absolutely fabulous awesome tour!! Oh, will I ever travel to meet you?
Cordially,
Hello Andy and Di,
I wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed two Live Virtual Tours, first “The Culloden Experience” and more recently, “A Journey Through 18th Century Scotland”.
Your presentations were expertly delivered and extremely informative. It is obvious that you both are deeply passionate about your country and have a great ability to impart knowledge in a meaningful manner.
I look forward to further Live Virtual Tours in the future and highly recommend you and your 'Tour the Scottish Highlands 'business to anyone interested in Scottish history.

Past Life Regression Session - Testimonials
I had been wanting to do Past Life Regression for a while. But because it is such a personal journey,
I was hesitant to work with just any practitioner. Having observed Diane’s experience and process with her own journey, my trust in her capacity to guide me was immediate. I was thrilled to be working with someone who had the depth of experience as well as the gentle compassion to observe the journey in someone else. Diane helped me to discover some extraordinary and insightful circumstances during my regression. I will be working with the information that arose for a long time to come. So many puzzle pieces fell into place concerning this life’s processes, pretty much immediately. But for days and weeks after, the connections continued to rise up and strengthen, helping me to learn about myself and the world around me. I believe they will continue to provide important threads for the personal work that is central to my life path. Diane is a courageous and skilled guide in the profound investigation of previous lives. It's been an amazing gift to work with her.
What a wonderful and synchronistic meeting it was to find Diane and Andy through their tours. I look forward to a continued connection with them, both for tours and Past Life Regression. The joy and depth they both bring to the world is truly inspiring.
I want to share with you my beautiful experience with past lives regression with Diane, last December, 2020.
After enjoying their virtual tours on Zoom, reading all the information provided including the questions, I decided to give myself a 75th birthday gift of this past lives regression experience with Di.
We set a date. On that morning, I made myself comfortable in my recliner with my computer and Zoomed with Diane for hours. It was warm, loving, and fascinating to see myself in two other lives. Di guided me with questions and wrote everything down for me. I am most satisfied with the experience and the pages Diane recorded of our conversations and sent to me as an email attachment immediately after. I highly recommend you experience past lives regression with Diane. May your journey be as joyful as mine.
Hi Diane. I’m still processing our session. It’s a lot to think about. It was such an amazing experience! Thank you so much for being part of that experience! You truly have a wonderful gift and I am so happy you share it with others. Have a wonderful weekend!
